WHAT! HAPPY NEW YEAR. COVERS.

I haven't been posting on the blog lately. Lots of work! Here's some of the covers I've done in the last few months. Really exciting and fun projects on the horizon - I will try and keep this blog updated more regularly - however, I do suggest checking out www.larryewatts.com for other work not found on this blog.

HEROES CONVENTION / concepts and general update 6172014

I've been playing around a little bit with concepts, I wish I could re-brand the Robyn Hood Ongoing book  a little bit. No negativity to what has been and what is, just, in my mind, Robyn would be the alt rock punk hipster of the zenescope universe and the book should reflect current trends and whatnot...  I dunno... so I thought I'd post a teaser concept I've been messing around with in between pages... just a little sketchy sketch to break the monotony of never ending monthly interiors.

 UPCOMING APPEARANCES:

Heroes Convention - June 20-22-
You can find me in Artist Alley AA 1507! Please stop by and say hi. I'll be doing sketchs, signing books, and will have some prints and other goodies to check out.

Ocala Comiccon - June 28&29

Tampa Bay Comiccon -  Aug 1-3
I'll be hanging with the Heroes Haven Crew - I'll be singing books, doing commissions and sketches, and providing sage wisdom. Stop by!

Long time no post.

Wow - Has it really been almost 6 months since I've updated this blog? Sorry! I've literally been grinding out books since the last post. It seems like a reoccurring theme lately in my posts regarding the inconsistent nature of my updates. As of last week, I've completed the final issue of Robyn Hood : Legend. Here's some pics I've seen leaked around the net:

This series was a difficult one for me. The deadlines were tight for the entire 5 issue run. Issue 5 of this series marks my 15th book with Zenescope of which I have done the interiors for - and 33 books I've appeared in so far. CRAZY.  that's kind of a big deal for me. I still run my screenprinting business, and have a 2 year old son as well. My wife and I just bought a house. Considering I still have several issues scheduled to draw in the next months, I feel like I'm dreaming sometimes. Is this really my life?

I can't believe the story that we began telling in volume 1 has finally wrapped up. It's been an incredible journey, I feel like I've grown as an artist. Deadlines have forced me to learn how to let go of a page. I know that if I had more time, I could do more to every page... but that doesn't change the fact that these are monthly books... so... I feel like you have to find that sweet spot sometimes, where you can live with what you're turning in, regardless if it's up to par with what you know you can do. 2 years ago around this time, I was still working on small indy projects and considering getting out of the game. It's not much compared to some people I know, but for me, having been able to work for companies like IDW, Valiant Entertainment, & Zenescope Entertainment these last 2 years and have my work published on a national level is just an amazing experience and worth every sleepless night and moments of frustration.

Valiant Covers! Bloodshot & Harbinger -

I recently got a call from Valiant to do some cover work for their Kindle Worlds Digital Exclusives Initiative. I had just finished penciling and inking the latest issue of Robyn Hood: Wanted at the time, and hadn't received the next script

Then out of the blue... I got a call that late Friday afternoon with a VERY tight deadline for a Bloodshot cover. I finished the cover a few days early so they asked me if I'd like to do a Harbinger cover as well. Heck yeah.

Shortly after sending out my finals, I received my script for the next issue of Robyn Hood... so yep... I immediately went back on the grind! I'll try and keep my blog more updated kiddos.

You can check out Harbinger: Slow Burn on Amazon.com - or follow the link below!

robyn hood and the merry men - the PUNK BAND

I've had this sketch idea in my head since Issue 2. Glad I had time to bang this one out between projects. Robyn Hood & The Merry Men sounds like a band to me... like a punk band or something...They keep coming up in the script (obviously) and I just kept seeing something like this. IF Robyn from Zenescope's Robyn Hood WAS a singer for a band, it would be a kick ass punk outfit. There probably is a band with that name... anyhow, this was a ton of fun. Back to work!

Robyn Hood # 4 Out today! CHECK IT OUT!

Robyn Hood # 4 hits the shelves today. I'm still trying to get used to seeing a book I drew on the shelf of my local comic shop. It's a wonderful sight to see your name on a book... I know a lot of you out there have been doing this for years and that's old hat for you, but I am really enjoying these little moments.  I'm proud of this book, this issue in particular was a little tough on me. Graduation scenes, and like a million crowd shots... all stuff I haven't tackled many times before. This issue is colored by Adam Metcalfe, and lettered by Jim Campbell, written by Pat Shand and the zenescope brain trust. I finally got to draw Robyn in her costume which was a plus. This issue sets up the mega sized issue 5 coming out in January, which, I will be drawing as well.

Robyn Hood # 2 out this week! You go buy!

Robyn Hood # 2 will be out this wednesday.

I've seen these covers floating around the internet for solicitations, so I figured I could show them here. I had the pleasure of doing the interior artwork for this book, and will be back for issues 4 and 5! So do me a favor and pick up the book! There are several covers for this issue (by some of my favorite artists!) including the great Ale Garza, Anthony Spay,  Tommy Patterson, & CS Moore.
